The region’s open studios schemes – which encourage visits to artist’s workplaces – have taken on new forms in the face of coronavirus.
Norfolk’s Open Studio was due to run from May 23 to June 7, with artists around the county opening their studios to the public.
The in-person element has been cancelled, but instead almost 50 artists have contributed to Norfolk Open Studios Online with digital showcases of their work and videos of them demonstrating and talking about their approach to creativity.
Suffolk’s scheme had been due to run across weekends in June, but has also been cancelled to help keep artists and the public safe.
The artist directory of those who had planned to take part is still available on the scheme’s website.
In Cambridge, this July’s planned open studios will be replaced with ‘open windows’, with artists displaying their work for the public to see throughout the month, guided by a ‘treasure map’ available online.
The move is part of a nationwide Open Windows campaign to share art safely.
