Rock musical SIX will open Norwich Theatre Royal’s first post-lockdown season in September, with a slate of new performances announced for the venue alongside its sister theatre Norwich Playhouse.
The show, which focuses on the wives of Henry VIII started its first UK tour in the city and is returning after being nominated for 5 Olivier Awards and successful West End and Broadway runs.
Other shows include Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World, a new musical production that feature iconic women from history including Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, Marie Curie and Emmeline Pankhurst at Norwich Playhouse; Dreamgirls, following talented young singers in the turbulent 1960s at the Royal; Fat Friends The Musical; and spoof thriller Cluedo.
Comedy coming to the two venues includes Jenny Eclair, Sofie Hagen, Louisa Omielan, and Bridget Christie, as well as The Mash Report‘s Nish Kumar.
The dance programme includes Rambert2’s Double Bill features 11 early-career dancers with outstanding ability and individuality, and Norther Ballet’s take on the Merlin legend.
Shows already announced include Disney’s classic Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Ronald Harwood’s comedy drama The Dresser starring Julian Clary and Matthew Kelly, alongside several shows rescheduled from the last year.
