A trio of new musicals inspired by popular culture are heading to Norwich Theatre Playhouse this month.
The three hour-long shows are Come Dine With Me: The Musical; I Wish You Well – The Gwyneth Paltrow Ski-Trial Musical; and SILENCE! The Musical.
The shows can be booked individually, or people can book a festival ticket to see all three shows – with the possibility to gorge on all three in one day.
The shows are all from the same producer as SIX, Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist and My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?) – all shows with a reputation for messing with musical theatre tradition and featuring strong characters and poppy soundtracks.
I Wish You Well features X Factor star Diana Vickers and is choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips.
The Playhouse will have a pizza truck delivering delicious delights straight to the its garden area, and theme cocktails including the Not Liable alcoholic ginger shot; sangria based Hello Clarice, and a glass of prosecco with grenadine called the What a sad little life Jane?
Norwich Theatre head of programming Sam Bain said: “This July we’re bringing you a taste of the Edinburgh Fringe right here in Norwich. Come and spend the day with us at the Playhouse and you can see three brand new comedy musicals and soak up the festival buzz in our riverside courtyard bar. A perfect summer day out.”
