Award-winning poet, essayist and fiction writer Kei Miller will be the final author to host a international literature showcase as part of the Norwich-based National Centre for Writing’s latest event strand.
At the free online event on June 24, Miller will introduce his selection of ten unmissable emerging writers working in the UK today, explaining why he believes they are influencing and shaping the UK’s literature scene.
Three of the chosen writers will join Kei in conversation to discuss their work.
The International Literature Showcase is a showcase of 50 outstanding writers whose work reflects the eclectic range of contemporary UK literature, as selected by five curators: Elif Shafak, Val McDermid, Jackie Kay, Owen Sheers and Kei Miller.
Miller’s selection is described by organisers as “a call to world-wide literature festivals, publishers and academics to look again at writing from the UK and broaden the scope of authors considered for literary events, translation and contemporary British literature courses”.
The hour-long session starts at 5pm on Thursday, June 24 and will be streamed on YouTube. Tickets are free with prior registration via the NCW website.
