Theatre lovers can get a peek behind the curtain at a Norfolk theatre’s open day in August.

Norwich Theatre is staging is annual Open Day on Saturday, August 24, from 10am to 3pm, offering unique behind-the-scenes experiences.

Activities include a guided access all-areas tour around Norwich Theatre Royal and Stage Two, including the opportunity to explore on stage, backstage, under the stage and in the dressing rooms where stars have prepared for shows.

Audio Described and British Sign Language Interpreted tours will be running throughout the day, ensuring everyone can enjoy a guided tour experience, along with an earlier quiet tour and self-guided tour options.

Free, bookable tech talks will offer the chance to delve into backstage disciplines, along with opportunities to try on costumes from past pantomimes; take a look the Norwich Theatre archive; and even get your face painted.

Creative Engagement taster sessions running throughout the day will give a flavour of theatre’s courses for children and adults.

Chief executive Stephen Crocker said: “Norwich Theatre Open Day is one of my favourite days in our calendar. We throw open the doors and invite you right into the beating heart of the theatre.

“Whether you’re fascinated by lighting and sound, dazzled by costumes, curious about our history, or interested in our work as a charity, there’s something for everyone. Join us for a whole lot of fun and discover the hidden world that brings theatre to life.”
