The now traditional outing for the queen of the Larkman hits all the right notes in a Norfolk-baiting 90 minutes of comedy.

Karl Minns starts the show as himself for a half-hour set, before donning the pink leisurewear of his alter ego She Go – the now menopausal single mum of Destiny Aguilera, frequent visitor to Anglia Square, and over-sharer extraordinaire.

It’s not quite clear why there is the split as the material doesn’t vary significantly between the two sections, with Minns – with or without a wig – riffing on news headlines from the past year and taking affectionate pot shots at the people and places of Norfolk. The Eastern Daily Press really should get a cut of the door take.

For those familiar with the county there is a constant slew of one-liners (top pick for me was the coastal erosion news “that put Hemsby back in the news, if not on the map”), and references to the Norfolk’s accent phonetic eccentricities. For everyone else there plenty of scatological gags – such as the ship called the Stubborn Floater – and the inverse relationships to the cold of male and female body parts.

Minns’ warmth as a performer allows him to get away with some risqué material and jokes about his audience that might fall flat from other mouths, but here ensure a reliable stream of laughs.

I felt the seats around me repeatedly shaking with joy. You can’t ask for more than that.
